I'll show you how to make powdered sugar at home. It is super quick, and all you need is granulated sugar and a blender.

Most people have powdered sugar in their cupboards, but did you know it is very easy to make yourself?
To transform the sugar into a fine powder, you will need a powerful blender or a coffee grinder. If you don't have one of those, a blender should do the trick.
Powdered sugar is perfect for sprinkling over oliebollen or pancakes and poffertjes or for making frostings like chocolate whipped cream or buttercream and royal icing.

Ingredients
Sugar - to make powdered sugar, you can use any sugar you want, but it works best if you use regular granulated sugar.
Brown sugar is less suitable because it is sticky because of the molasses. You could even make it with cane sugar or coconut blossom sugar.
Cornstarch - if you are using the sugar right away, it is not necessary, but if you want to store the powdered sugar for later use, it is a good idea to add a little cornstarch to the sugar so that it will keep dry.
You can find the complete ingredient list and instructions on the recipe card below!
Instructions
Add the sugar to a blender or food processor and pulse until you have a fine powder. This can take a few minutes, depending on the amount of sugar you are making.
To ensure there aren't any climbs or large crystals left, you can pour the sugar through a sieve, and you're done!
Equipment
- A blender or coffee grinder.
Storage
The sugar will keep for years, but because sugar easily attracts moisture, it can get lumpy.
To prevent this, I recommend adding a little cornstarch to the sugar if you want to store it for longer.
