Ingredients

  • 4 apples
  • 2 tablespoons brown sugar
  • 2 tablespoons honey
  • ¼ stick butter
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon

Instructions

  • You start by peeling the apples, removing the core, and cutting the apples into cubes or slices. Make sure the apple pieces are the same size, so they cook simultaneously.
  • Melt the butter in a frying pan and fry the apples for about 5 minutes until they soften.
  • Then add the cinnamon, sugar, honey, and salt, and fry on low heat for a few minutes more until the sugar is melted and begins to caramelize. Be careful! The sugar gets incredibly hot, so make sure no small children can reach it, and whatever you do, don't taste them!
  • Scoop the caramelized apple out of the pan and let it cool down before serving.

Notes

  • Use apples that hold their shape, like Honeycrisp, Granny Smith, and Elstars, to make this caramelized apples recipe.
  • Store them in the fridge for about a week and in the freezer for three months!
