Ingredients

For the oat topping

  • ½ cup rolled oats
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 2 tablespoons brown sugar
  • ½ teaspoon cinnamon
  • ½ teaspoon vanilla

For the warm apples

  • 4 large apples
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 1 tablespoon brown sugar
  • ½ teaspoon cinnamon
  • A pinch salt

Instructions

  • The crispy oat topping
  • You start by making the oat topping. Melt the butter in a frying pan and add the cinnamon, brown sugar, and oat flakes.
  • Cook this for about four minutes until the sugar is melted and the oats are nice and golden brown.
  • Spoon the oat topping onto a plate and let it cool completely.
  • The warm apples
  • Add the rest of the butter to the pan, and once the butter is melted, add the apples.
  • Cook the diced apple for about two minutes.
  • Add the sugar, cinnamon, and lemon juice and simmer gently until the apples are soft and the sugar has caramelized.
  • Divide the warm apples among the bowls and spoon some oat topping on top.
  • Serve warm with some ice cream or yogurt.
