Ingredients

For the donuts

  • 2,5 cup flour
  • ¾ cup milk
  • 1 package yeast
  • ¼ cup sugar
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • 3,5 tablespoon butter
  • 1 egg
  • 8 cups sunflower oil *this depends on the size of your pan

For the strawberry glaze

  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 2 tablespoons strawberry jam
  • 1 tablespoon milk
  • Sprinkles or anise sprinkles *optional

Instructions

How to make the mini donuts

  • Place the flour, yeast, sugar, and salt in a mixing bowl and stir well.
  • Add the milk and melted butter and mix into a smooth dough.
  • Knead the dough for about five more minutes until you have a soft and smooth dough. The dough should be a little bit sticky.
  • Place the dough in a greased mixing bowl and let it rise covered with a tea towel for about an hour until doubled in size.
  • Roll out the dough to about ½ inch or 1 cm and carefully cut out doughnuts with a round cutter of about 5 cm or a glass. Use the nuzzle or a piping bag or small cutter about 1 inch or 2 cm from the center. You can add these rounds to the remaining dough or make mini donut holes by frying them!
  • Place the doughnuts on baking paper and cover them to rise for another half hour.
  • Preheat the oil to 356 F or 180C.
  • Carefully lower the doughnuts into the hot oil and fry for about 3 minutes on each side until golden brown. Caution! Do not fry too many at once.
  • Remove them from the fryer with a slotted spoon and drain them on kitchen paper.

How to make the strawberry glaze

  • In a small bowl, stir the powdered sugar with the jam and a little water until you have a thick glaze. If your glaze is too thin, you can add more powdered sugar. Is your glaze too thin? Stir in a few drops of water.
  • Dip the cooled donuts in the glaze and let them dry on a rack.
